Fash Forward, Always

Fashion has always been a big part of my life, for me it's the best way to express yourself. Growing up, I've always been fascinated in fashion, maybe because it runs in the family, both of my grandmothers are dressmakers and I've learned a lot from them. I can still remember my elementary days when I would always be stuck on gazing at fashion magazines, watching fashion TV and even sketching my dream outfits. But, I also came to a point when I was not sure about what I really want and how to express myself on the wardrobe section (those were the awkward days). Thankfully, I eventually found my fashion mantra, that is, to wear whatever it is that makes me feel good, confident and comfortable.

Personally, I'm not the type who'd always follow the trend, I wear what I want when and how I want it, but don't get me wrong I'm also the biggest critic of myself and I guess that's healthy, being able to be comfortable in knowing your strengths and weaknesses particularly on how you look is one of the greatest milestones in life, because it has a big impact on how you'll present yourself to the world.

Also, having your trusted mentor/s is a plus, having someone who can honestly say when you don't look as good as you think, someone who'll save you from a lot of cringes after wearing something out of great impulse, for me, it's my mom, although we are not that fashionably compatible, I really take her advice seriously (but of course, after so many oops moments too, I was stubborn then) so a personal advice to young fashionistas out there, trust your moms :) (this is really a blog post for Mother's Day lol)

I guess I'd describe my personal style as, classic-sophisticated, I've always loved classic pieces because of their versatility. For me, fashion is a merry-go-round, whatever the trend today will also be the trend in the future. I'm pretty sure this explains my love for vintage-styled clothes and accessories, not to mention getting inspos from my fashion icons such as Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Kate Middleton and local top fashion blogger Tricia Gosingtian. So if you're still confused about your personal style, get inspirations from the people you follow, your personal style will evolve from there.

Before our family dinner, my sister and I did this quick photo sesh at SM Megamall's Fashion Hall, it's like a haven for fashion enthusiasts like me, a one-stop-shop of the top local and fashion brands, although personally I'm not that brand conscious, I basically buy clothes because of the style and quality.
I also love that the interiors were somehow specially designed for fashion bloggers who wish to have their OOTD photos taken. This brick wall is my personal favorite :)

I decided to wear my favorite top which I bought online, it's a black off-shouldered top with puffed sleeves, I love how it gives me so much of the 18th century feels when women wear corseted gowns with puffed sleeves. Oh Shakespeare where art thou?

And the long earrings trend is so back! Love this piece from Koket Accessories plus how affordable they are, yes I'm a fashionista but also a practical one :)

I also love this matte long lasting lipstick I got as a present from my cousin, if you're wearing dark/dull colored outfits, make sure to add that pop of color through your accessories or make up. I seriously need to trim my bangs I know :)

And just as we decided to have that passerby artsy snap, this random guy casually joined the shoot, effortless si kuya lol (can't stop laughing when we saw this) Oh! the BTS of photoshoots :)

So that's it for my first fashion blog, hope you enjoyed that and somehow got some fashion tips. My greatest fashion advice, don't be afraid to experiment, it's never too late to know your personal style and what look best suits you. Some people give minimal effort on how they look, don't be one of them, it's not about giving more importance to the outside appearance and not on the inside nor being narcissistic, it's about loving yourself, being able to feel good about how you look, trust me, your efforts will go a long away. Whether it's for a job interview, night out with friends, dinner with your loved ones, whatever the occasion is, take time to wear something good, something that will make you feel more alive and happy, because if you feel confident about how you look, it's a great step in feeling more confident inside :)
